Sushi @ Haru on Wall Street, New York City

The best Sushi I have had in NYC was right under my nose!

Located almost on the door step of my girlfriends old apartment on Wall Street, Haru sits right on the corner of #1 Wall Street Court. It is close to the famous Delmonicos steak house & of course for the sweet toothed lovers of American cup cakes; Crumbs is across the street too.

Looking back I must have passed it about 20 times over 7 or 8 visits while we were doing the transatlantic romance (finding her Irish roots has brought her here to London on an EU passport!) Anyway this one Sunday evening, where the streets are eerily quiet for NYC standards as the ‘financial district’ offices and most of the shops, bars and restaurants are all closed up for the weekend, we fancied some sushi.

We set off walking around and around till we came full circle to the steps of Haru and decided to go check it out. It was great. Amazing ambience, service and the food was magnificent. Made to order in front of our eyes. Delicious!

As ever the portions are huge, but we still over ordered and over indulged! So here is our platter for this visit. It consisted of my now new favourite and what has become my usual, the house special spider roll. Soft Shell tempura crab inside out! I also have to recommend you go over the top with The Wall Street; King crab and white tuna roll with sriracha and fresh wasabi, topped with seared scallop, shiso, tobiko and gold leaf! Only in New York!

Finishing off our feast were various rolls and sushi with Sautéed scallops & black truffle wasabi salsa, trays of fish tacos, Spicy crab caviar, Philadelphia and other delights.
