Jubilee weekend is almost here! We’ve been waiting all year for an extra day off work, to see the sites of buntings and flags all around, enjoy local street parties with tea and crumpets and all that other loyal and royal patriotism. Well the day off work does sound appealing, however, as for the rest… Well from Thursday evening until Sunday afternoon it is time to rebel the monarchy and take the anarchic stance to defy the norm and shout from the roof tops (overlooking London fields) in proper punk fashion "GOD SAVE THE CLAM".
For four days only two of London’s best culinary creators come together to bring you a follow up from last year’s Rock Lobsta success. This year, along with Tom Adams of Pitt Cue Co, Carl Clarke is seafooding the city with a twist of Southern American charm. So clam down guys and girls, never mind the scallops of the Jubilee and book yourself a slot to come and enjoy this clam bake extravaganza.
Tweat up have been trying to find the best double act comparisons for Carl and Tom with names such as: Scooby and Shaggy (the winner of 2 tickets was Ruth @legslonglength ), Smokey and the Bandit, Withnail & I, Dempsey and Makepeace and my comparisons of Morecambe and Wise as a double act and as individuals Elvis Costello and that kid from Stuart Little.

Carl Clark AKA Disco Bistro AKA The Itinerant Chef is an old hat at the pop-up foodie experience. The ad-hoc addicted chef thrives to bring the city some fresh new temptations that are ‘off the radar’. In other words Carl, as always, is using his creative flare to think outside the box and once more, outside the restaurant. With last year’s successes including Rock Lobsta (a week long lobster roll fest!) The English Laundrette (9 days only / 5 course taster menu) and of course winning the title of the UK Chilli Off Champion, it might have seemed daunting to improve his high standards and ideas coming into 2012. Well this was definitely not the case. Carl has already smashed the boundaries at the Cornish Grill – Redhook back in February with Who Killed Bambi? Carl Clarke Disco Bistro Killed It – Cornish Grill Style. He also brought the ticket sales to a standstill in less than 8 minutes for his take on Burger Monday, and now, with a little help from his friends and his extensive knowledge and experience from living in Savanna, Georgia, we are given the anti-Jubilee ‘God Save The Clam.
Joining Carl in this year’s event is Tom Adams of the famed Soho home of Pitt Cue Co. This massively successful venture that started off at the turn of the year was derived from his beloved street food BBQ truck that was previously found down underneath Hungerford Bridge on London’s South Bank last year. Tom has become a legend in the smoking and barbequing of ribs, pigs head’s, brisket, sausages and just about every meaty treat you can think of, all with help of his two friends Doris & Ethel .
Finally we have Glyn Gordon helping out with his amazingly creative desserts. Glyn, who helped out with the unique sweet treats within my ‘Lucky Bags’ at Carl’s Burger Monday event, is also the ex-pastry chef at Simon Rogan’s Roganic (where Carl has also worked previously when the fine dining and foraging bug grips his inner soul).

To wish the Queen a very happy 60’th Birthday indeed, God Save The Clam has pulled out all the stops with a stonking DJ line-up that includes the legend that is Don Letts, Jon Kahuna, Sophie Lloyd, Johnny Dropjawn and Gizzi Erskine (lady chef off the telly). Post Clam-Bake each evening will turn into a roof top beach-style sundowner, minus the sandy drawers

In June 2011 Rock Lobsta brought a tasty selection of affordable, on-the-go crustacean delights to East London.
Inspired by the Maine-style lobster roll as served in New York, a sumptuous selection of lobster, crab and crayfish was served up From the Hackney Lobsta Roll to the Shoreditch Splitter, all seafood was sourced in the UK and all produce was seasonal and British.

From the Rock Lobsta team, this week long British food experience was spurred on by Thomas Keller’s the French Laundry. Set in the British bastion that is a launderette, complete with ‘Coin Op’ cocktail bar and Dott Cotton inspired waitresses.

Originally a food truck pitched at Southbank last summer, its popularity has led to a permanent home off Carnaby Street – compact yet perfectly formed lace-curtained corner spot.
The menu: Brisket, St Louis Ribs, Beef Ribs and Pulled Pork with sides of Baked Beans, Braised Sprout Tops, Vinegar Slaw and Burnt End Mash, plus the day’s special of Giant Sausage, some Smoked Hot Wings, a pot of Crispy Pickled Shitake and the Pitt Cue Pickle Jar – or maybe a little more if you are hungry.
